Ted R. Grossnickle, CFRE, Chairman & CEO
Prior to co-founding JGA in 1994, Ted Grossnickle served for 10 years as Vice President of Development and Public Affairs at Franklin College , as well as Acting President in 1993. Previously, he held positions at Northern Illinois University and Wabash College . He was named Fund Raising Executive of the Year in 1994 by the Indiana Chapter of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (now the Association of Fundraising Professionals). He serves on the Board of Trustees of Wabash College, and on the Board of Directors of Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation. In addition, Grossnickle serves on the Board of Visitors for the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University and frequently contributes articles and presents on topics in the field.

 
         
   

Meg Gammage-Tucker, Ph.D., CFRE, Senior Consultant
Meg Gammage-Tucker joined JGA in December 2004. She most recently served as Director of Advancement for the Indiana Repertory Theatre, Inc. Her previous professional positions include Director of Development and Marketing, Pleasant Run, Inc.; Director of Development and Membership, Indianapolis Museum of Art; Director of Institutional Advancement, Indianapolis Zoological Society; and Vice President for Institutional Advancement of the Wilds.  She also recently served as President of The Rhino Trust, an international organization dedicated to funding wildlife conservation, education, and research. Gammage-Tucker is on the faculty of the Fundraising School at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University and has also served as president of the Indiana Chapter of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals.

 
         
    Kris W. Kindelsperger, Ed.D., Senior Executive Consultant
Before joining JGA, Kris Kindelsperger served as Vice President for Development at Hanover College, where he was responsible for all associated activities related to fundraising, alumni and parent relations, and public relations. During his 19-year tenure at Hanover, his specific areas of supervision included the fundraising activities of the annual fund, corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, and donor research. Before his work at Hanover he held administrative positions at the University of Louisville and Indiana University. He has been active in volunteer leadership positions with Girls Inc., Sigma Chi Fraternity, the Community Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County, and Turning Point Shelter in Columbus.
 
         
    Ernest Vargo II, CFRE, Senior Consultant
Formerly the Director of Development at the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Ernie Vargo joined the JGA team in 1998. At the Orchestra, he managed a staff of thirteen fundraising professionals responsible for raising more than $5 million annually. Additionally, he directed the Endowing the Future Campaign , which raised more than $50 million, including a $10 million gift, the largest gift of a living donor to the Orchestra. Before that, he served in a leadership position at Prevention of Child Abuse and founded the Prevention of Child Abuse Foundation. He also worked for Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and its Foundation . Currently he serves as a trustee and chair of the advancement committee and co-chair of the long range planning committee for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, chair of the alumni advisory committee for Lambda Chi Alpha General Fraternity, and volunteer for Academy + and for the pet therapy program at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis.
 
         
    Angela E. White, CFRE, Senior Consultant
Before joining JGA in 1996, Angela White was the Executive Director for Institutional Advancement at the University of Indianapolis. There, she managed the functions of development, alumni relations, marketing and media relations, publications, and research. She began her career in development at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, where she rose to the position of Vice President of Institutional Advancement. She directed the successful $15 million Sesquicentennial Campaign for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, the largest campaign in the College's history at that time, and served as Conference Co-Chair of the 1996 CASE District 5 Conference. White serves as managing counsel to clients on feasibility studies, campaigns, and development assessments.
 
         
   

Juli Knutson, Senior Writer
Before joining JGA, Juli Knutson was Director of Publications for Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, and Managing Editor of its quarterly journal, The Record . She also has led publications teams for two other nonprofit associations—Pi Lambda Theta, also an education honor society, and the American College of Sports Medicine. Knutson is a senior writer and project manager for JGA, overseeing the firm's efforts in marketing and public relations in addition to working with clients.

 
         
   

Brandyn A. Ludlum, Project Manager and Writer
Before joining JGA, Brandy Ludlum led a publications team at EDS (Electronic Data Systems) in support of Indiana Medicaid. In this position, she provided supervision to a team of technical writers, and managed the production and publication of a variety of internal and external communications, including guides, manuals, bulletins, and newsletters. She also brings to JGA experience in project management, marketing communications, and mass media writing and editing. Ludlum is a project manager and writer at JGA.

 
         
   

Darlena K. Riley, Associate
Before joining JGA, Darlena Riley was a legal assistant with National City Corp. Riley oversees the general office operations of JGA, including human resources, billing and bookkeeping, and payroll.

 

 
         
   

Valerie A. Bender, Office Assistant
Valerie Bender formerly held positions as Office Administrator and Accounting/Data Processing Supervisor. Bender provides administrative support to the entire JGA staff in addition to coordinating scheduling and travel arrangements.

 
         
   

JGA has the benefit of having three experienced senior consultants that work with the team on an adjunct basis. Each brings a wealth of knowledge, energy, and expertise to the practice.

Donald B. Johnson, Senior Consultant
Don Johnson co-founded JGA with Ted Grossnickle in 1994. He has served in senior fundraising positions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tufts University Medical School, and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Campaigns under his direction have raised a combined total of more than $350 million. Before co-founding JGA, he led Don Johnson & Associates, a Maine-based fundraising consulting firm known for its extremely personal, direct level of service.

Thomas A. King, Senior Consultant

Thomas A. (Tom} King has been active in volunteer management, community development, and philanthropy throughout his career as a professional and a volunteer. He served as President of the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation for 8 years and the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce for 13 years, as well as holding leadership roles at IPALCO and Walker Research. He has taught nonprofit management, ethics, and leadership courses as a member of the adjunct faculty at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis. His volunteer leadership service includes: Big Brothers of Central Indiana, Goodwill of Central Indiana, Butler University, The Indy Partnership, the Indiana Sports Corporation, the President Harrison Home, and the Arthur Jordan Foundation.

Walter J. Sperling, Senior Consultant
Jay Sperling has two decades of experience a s a consultant to the nonprofit and foundation sectors in the areas of strategic analysis, communication, and resource development. He played a major role in JGA's evaluations of, among others, the Indiana Youth Institute, Indiana University Center on Philanthropy, the International Violin Competition of Indiana, and The Foellinger Foundation New Century Initiative. His work experience includes leadership of a year-round educational program for the Chewonki Foundation in Maine; directing the Adult Education Center for the University of Maine; and senior development positions with the Maine Maritime Museum, Bowdoin College, and Oregon State University.

JGA also offers specialists in moves management, public affairs, and board development and dynamics. Any associate retained for work on behalf of a client is subject to the client's prior approval. All associates work under the direct supervision of JGA.
